REVOLUTION 2018 will take place on May 15-16 at Hyatt Centric Chicago Magnificent Mile. In celebration of the upcoming conference, we’re counting down our favorite things about this year’s host city, Chicago.

A Famous Foodie Destination

Experiencing genuine stuffed deep-dish pizza at Pequod’s Pizza alone is reason enough to visit Chicago, but there is plenty of great food. Alongside many great restaurants and bars, other local specialties include dripping Italian beef sandwiches loaded with sweet peppers and giardiniera, like those found at Mr. Beef or Fiore’s.

Be sure to pick up a Chicago-style hot dog at Big Guys Sausage Stand while you’re at it. Looking for a snack to pass the time between meals? Chicago is known for its mix of caramel and cheddar cheese popcorn – a sweet and salty snack combination that is absolutely addictive.

Chicago Sings the Blues

Chicago has quite the musical history, being home to many styles of music. The Chicago blues of Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, and Buddy Guy remains hugely influential, as does Chicago-style Dixieland jazz. Jazz and blues clubs dot The Second City’s landscape, and the Chicago Jazz Festival and the Chicago Blues Festival take place every summer.

Looking for the best spot to listen to great music? Check out Chicago Jazz for a list of venues. And speaking of blues, if you’re a fan of John Landis’ 1980 film, The Blues Brothers, be sure to visit some of the iconic movie’s filming locations via this definitive guide.

Iconic Sports Teams

As home to the Cubs, White Sox, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks, some of the most iconic teams in the U.S., sports are always a big deal in Chi-Town. Chicagoans are extremely… passionate about their teams, and experiencing that rowdy atmosphere is a must for any visitor, whether it’s at a historic stadium like Wrigley Field or one of the city’s many sports bars. Want to catch a game? Check out Choose Chicago for a sports schedule and calendar.

And be sure to check out the interactive Chicago Sports Museum. The Museum combines skill challenges and simulated experiences with sports memorabilia and an impressive collection of game-used treasures and other artifacts. It’s a must for sports fans of all ages.

A Hoppin’ Craft Beer Scene

You can’t enjoy sports without some brews! Chicago’s brewery and bar scene is as large and diverse as the city itself. Local breweries include Goose Island, the aptly named Revolution, and Lagunitas, all offering tours and taprooms to check out. Other great Chi-Town breweries include Half Acre, Marz, and Pipeworks, which you can also sample in bars such as Fountainhead, Map Room, and Maria’s Packaged Goods.

Looking for a definitive list of craft beer destinations? Eater Chicago has you covered! And be sure to check out the world-famous Billy Goat Tavern, the inspiration behind the classic Saturday Night Live Cheezborger sketch.

World-Class Museums

In addition to ‘Da Bears and ‘Da Bulls, Chicago also has a range of cultural, historical, and scientific landmarks. Check out the world’s largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex at The Field Museum, home to a collection of more than 26 million biological specimens and cultural artifacts.

Experience the Western Hemisphere’s largest science museum at the 400,000-square-foot Museum of Science and Industry, or learn more about the Windy City at the Chicago History Museum. Into art? The Art Institute of Chicago has something to offer for everyone, providing an incredible collection of art from around the world including American, African, Asian, Indian and European works.
